Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander People

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations experience high rates of suicide, with a large percentage of young people experiencing a suicide death at a young age.

A suicide is a lived experience both physically and existentially for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. It is more about being less about the individual and more about the collective community in which the individual lives and dies.

Postvention Australia advises families to grieve safely, reducing the risk of further loss.
