Australia is facing a national suicide emergency.
Together we can make a difference.
Each year in Australia, approximately 3 ,300 people take their own lives, the equivalent of nine lives lost per day - more than double the number of people lost to road death. Some cohorts are even harder hit such as Indigenous Australians and members of both CALD and LGBTQIA+ communities, along with returned service people all being more than twice at risk than the mainstream community. New research shows that for each suicide death, up to 25 people attempt suicide and approximately 135 people are directly affected by suicide loss, which means there are up to 82,500 attempted suicides and 450,000 people in Australia are affected by suicide loss each year.
