Expression of Interest – Appointed Board Member 2020

Postvention Australia – the National Association for the Bereaved by Suicide – is seeking Expressions of Interest from suitably experienced people to be considered for appointment to the Board. Postvention Australia is seeking Ordinary Board Members (3-4).

The role of the Board is to provide governance and strategic leadership to the organisation and will comprise people with a wide range of skills and backgrounds. Postvention Australia is especially seeking those with a background in business strategy. Board member positions are voluntary. We are seeking Board members with a background in:

  • Business strategy
  • Fundraising
  • Marketing and communications
  • CALD communities
  • First responders
  • Veterans

The Board meets up to twelve times a year via Zoom with at least one Face to Face Board meeting (generally in December) and an Annual General Meeting. The Board members are also expected to contribute as a member of a sub-committee to the Board. The expected Board member commitment would be eight hours per month (which may vary).

Expectations of Board Members includes:

  • Attend and actively participate in meetings
  • Stay informed about Board matters, prepare well for meetings, and comment on minutes and reports
  • Serve on sub-committees
  • Utilise own skills, experience and knowledge to support the growth and success of the Association
